How to Get your Body Spring Break Ready

Spring break is just around the corner and you may be planning a trip to someplace warm to escape the bitter cold of Northeast Ohio. You also may be stressing that your body is not bathing suit ready after the holiday season. With spring break about two months away, this is the perfect time to start your weight loss journey. Here are a few tips to get you started:

Dieting

This is probably the most obvious but it is important to have a healthy diet if you want to lose more than just water weight. There is no one diet that will fit everyone so you should do some research to find a diet that fits best with your eating habits, allergies, intolerances, and lifestyle. It is also important to not just count calories. A handle full of chips and a handful of almonds may have the same calories, but the nutritional value of the almonds will be far more beneficial to your weight loss than the transfats and “bad calories” of the potato chips. Don’t forget during your diet that a diet should not feel like torture; there is a diet out there that works for you, it may just take some research to find it.

Start a New Workout Routine

The next tip is to start a new workout routine. If you are new to working out, it can be very intimidating to go to a public gym. If you find yourself in this position, you are not alone. You may be thinking, “How am I supposed to work out without going to the gym?” The answer to that question is YouTube! There are millions of workout videos on YouTube that are a lot more fun than the standard workout tapes from the ’80s. There are workout videos for everything from yoga, to boxing, to dance, to drumming! You can find videos set to your favorite genre of music or even podcasts! The options are endless.

Journal

The last tip is to journal as your go through this journey. You may experience some hard days with your new lifestyle and, don’t worry, it is very common. One thing to help release the negative emotions is journaling. This allows you to talk about your frustration and worries with no backlash from others since you are the only one reading it. Journaling is also an amazing way to set goals for yourself and track your progress during your journey.

Just remember to not be so hard on yourself if you aren’t seeing the progress you expected. If you are looking for dieting plans and diet food, look up local diet centers to help you with your journey!
